Big chop and transition
Big chop and transition
A shorter start in one cut, or a shorter way out of straightened lengths in steps.
A big chop takes you from long or relaxed hair to a short natural shape. A transition cut works in steps instead: it takes off straightened or relaxed lengths a little at a time, so you keep as much length as you can while your natural texture grows in. We agree the outline with you before the first cut, and plan the next ones together.
What to expect
Big chop, about 90 minutes
Transition cut, 75 to 90 minutes

Questions about this service
How short will a big chop be?
As short as you want. We look at your hair and agree a length and an outline before we cut, and we can start longer if you would rather see it in stages.
Can I keep some length while I transition?
Yes. That is what a transition cut is for. We take off the straightened lengths in steps and shape the rest so the two textures sit together.
How do I look after short coils?
Your stylist shows you how to wash, detangle and moisturize them and what to use at home, and writes it into your plan.
