Cut and shape

Cut and shape

Cut dry, curl by curl, so you see the length and the outline as they will sit.

We stretch your hair first, then cut it dry: shears for the curls, and clippers for the neckline and edges where the shape asks. A taper, a trim and a full shape all start with the same conversation, and your stylist shows you the result from the side and from behind before you leave the chair.

What to expect

  • Full shape, about two hours

  • Dry cut and shape, 60 to 90 minutes

  • Taper and line-up, 45 minutes

  • Trim and tidy, 30 to 45 minutes

Questions about this service

Why cut dry?

Coily hair shrinks as it dries and coils, so a cut made wet can end up shorter or rounder than planned. Cutting dry lets us see the shape as it will actually wear.

How often should I come in for a trim?

Most shapes hold their outline for a few weeks. Your stylist suggests a rhythm for yours at the end of the visit.

Can I get a fade or a taper?

Yes. Tapers and line-ups are on the menu for any coily texture, and they are booked the same way as every other cut.
